In the picture above the white arrows point to the 16d nails used for 1 - 1/8 inch plywood and for 2 x 6 and 2 x 12 stair treads. You will put a total of 3 nails in each stringer in the picture above there are 4 stringers for a total of a 12 nails per tread. If you are using 3/4 inch plywood use 8d nails instead of 16d nails.
