 No good the 4 inch ball goes through in between the stair balusters. |
The general rule is to install balusters and newel posts
between the handrail and flooring materials so that a 4” sphere (the
head of an infant) cannot pass through. Check your local building codes to make sure these are their handrail requirements. The examples above are general requirements and might not apply to your local building department so always double check to get the correct building code requirements.
